Phra Yai Tham Khao Cha-ang Park

Dan Makham Tia District, Kanchanaburi

Paying respects to Ah Gong Sun Wukong (The Monkey King) to pray for good fortune.

The Ultimate Hidden Oasis: Kanchanaburi’s Newest Sacred Mountaintop Sanctuary Tucked away inside a lush 111-rai community forest teeming with dense mixed deciduous trees, Phra Yai Tham Khao Cha-ang Park is Kanchanaburi’s latest “hidden gem.” Having only opened its doors to the public in mid-2023, this tranquil spiritual retreat is rapidly drawing crowds of travelers. Best of all, it is incredibly accessible—located just 150 kilometers (about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive) from Bangkok in Dan Makham Tia District.

Visitors can drive up a newly developed 410-meter mountain road directly to the summit. Here, a monumental Giant Buddha statue—measuring 15 meters wide at the lap and standing 21 meters tall—is currently under construction. At the foothills, the park features the scenic “Pha Chok Dee Mee Heng” (The Good Luck & Prosperity Cliff) and a highly talked-about shrine dedicated to Ah Gong Sun Wukong (The Monkey King), which has become a major hotspot for blessings.

The 5 Sacred Worship Points (Blessing Rituals)
