Pom Pee Viewpoint

(Khao Laem National Park)
Thong Pha Phumi District, Kanchanaburi

The Ultimate Lakeside Camping and Sunset Oasis Nestled beautifully along the edge of the vast Vajiralongkorn Reservoir, Pom Pee Viewpoint is a dreamy, picture-perfect rest stop and campground managed under Khao Laem National Park. The name “Pom Pee” originates from the indigenous Karen word “Per-Pee,” which translates to “reeds”—a nod to the natural aquatic plants that once flourished along these pristine shores.

Today, Pom Pee is highly celebrated by local and international travelers as one of the most romantic spots in Kanchanaburi to watch the sun dip below the mountain ridges, reflecting a golden glow across the expansive lake.

Whether you are stopping by for a quick road-trip break or staying overnight under the stars, here are the top experiences you shouldn’t miss:

  • Lakeside Camping & Stargazing: Pitch a tent on the manicured, sloping green lawns right next to the water. At night, away from city lights, the sky turns into a brilliant canopy of stars.

  • Kayaking & Swimming: Rent a boat to paddle along the calm reservoir waters or enjoy a refreshing dip in the designated, safe swimming areas.
  • Bird Watching: The tranquil, protected forest surrounding the site makes it a fantastic habitat for spotting various tropical bird species.
