Tham Phra That Cave
(Erawan National Park)
Tha Kradan Sub-district, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi
The Mystic Cavern of Translucent Stones and Sacred Legends Perched high on a mountain at about 790 meters above sea level, Tham Phra That is a spectacular, lesser-known natural wonder hidden inside the famous Erawan National Park. Originally discovered by a local named Mr. Mak Boonthong and once known as “Tham Dusit Mahima,” this cave is highly celebrated for its unusually beautiful stalactites and stalagmites—many of which feature rare, translucent properties that shimmer beautifully when light passes through them.
The local name “Phra That” stems from a deeply rooted village belief. Locals believe that a sacred, snow-white stone structure resembling a holy conch shell resides deep within the cavern, acting as a natural relic.

Inside the 7 Mystical Chambers
The illuminated cave stretches over 200 meters long, and a complete walking tour takes about 30 to 60 minutes. The interior is naturally divided into 7 unique thematic chambers, each named after its striking geological shapes:
- The Meditating Toad (กบจำศีล)
- The Planetarium (ท้องฟ้าจำลอง)
- The Bell Stone (หินระฆัง)
- The Sacred Relic Stone (หินพระธาตุ)
- The Main Pillar (เสาเอก)
- The Coral Rock (หินปะการัง)
- The Likay Curtain (ม่านลิเก — resembling the flowing drapes of traditional Thai theater)
