Wang Khanai Tayikaram Temple Hot Springs

The origin of the therapeutic mineral springs at Wat Wang Khanai Tayikaram is steeped in a fascinating blend of spiritual vision and scientific validation.

In 1993, the abbot, Phra Maha Sompong Phutthasaro, experienced a prophetic dream in which a figure dressed completely in white appeared to him. The figure directed him to drill a water well for public use in front of the temple, promising that doing so would bring prosperity and growth to the sanctuary. Trusting this divine message, the abbot requested the Department of Mineral Resources to survey the site.

In 1997, a survey team from the Department of Mineral Resources drilled at the designated spot. Deep beneath the ground, they discovered a pristine mineral spring with a natural temperature of 42°C (107.6°F). Recognizing its therapeutic potential, the specialists advised the temple to bring the water up for public use.

The pivotal point for development occurred in 1998 during a village community forum aimed at developing the local area. Mr. Suraphan Chaokuncharatsiri (Manager of Saeng Som Co., Ltd.) suggested that the hot water from the well be analyzed. Samples were consequently sent to Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen Campus) for scientific proof. The analysis revealed that the water is rich in numerous essential minerals known for their healing properties. It was determined to be highly suitable for improving conditions related to:

• Paresis and paralysis

• Numbness and muscle weakness in arms and legs

• Poor blood circulation

• Aches, pains, skin diseases, and bone ailments

• Acne, melasma, and skin blemishes

Acting upon this validation, the temple constructed its first public bathhouse. The response from the community was overwhelming, with so many visitors arriving that the single pool could not meet the demand. This led to a major expansion, resulting in the current facilities which boast 57 mineral bath pools, featuring both vertical “standing” pools and horizontal “reclining” pools to accommodate diverse needs.

True to the abbot’s vision and temple tradition, all general public pools remain completely free of charge. Additionally, a special, dedicated bathing area is located at the back of the temple grounds specifically for Buddhist monks and novices.
