Wat Thipsukhontharam

Huai Krachao District, Kanchanaburi

The Majestic Buddha of the West & Thailand’s Tallest Standing Bronze Buddha Located in the peaceful district of Huai Krachao, Wat Thipsukhontharam is a magnificent Buddhist park widely celebrated for housing the tallest standing bronze Buddha statue in Thailand. Known formally as Phra Buddha Maha Metta Pracha Thai Trailokanath Kanthararat Anusorn, this awe-inspiring masterpiece stands at an incredible height of 32 meters on an 8-meter-high pedestal, looking out grandly over the western plains.

Built through a collaboration between the Crown Property Bureau and the public and private sectors, this sacred landmark was established to honor King Rama IX on his 84th birthday, Queen Sirikit on her 80th birthday, and to commemorate the visionary monk, Somdej Phra Maha Theeracharn, who initiated the project.

The statue is depicted in the “Rain-Asking” posture (Kanthararat style), symbolizing fertility, compassion, and peace. Set upon a vast ceremonial plaza, the towering Buddha is visible from miles away, acting as a spiritual beacon for all visitors.
